This weekend sees the first of many of 2015’s PAX events take place in PAX South, which is running in San Antonio, Texas, USA. Leading up to the show there has been some speculation that Borderlands developer Gearbox Software might be showcasing something in virtual reality (VR), although it remains to be seen if that’s the case. There are a handful of other VR titles on display at this weekend’s event, though, making it a worthwhile trip for anyone hoping to get a look at the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
First up, CCP Games is showcasing its tent pole VR multiplayer space combat title, EVE: Valkyrie. Attendees will be able to strap on an Oculus Rift and go head-to-head in the title’s intense brand of dogfighting. Sticking with space, there’s also Frontier Development’s Elite: Dangerous, which is making an appearance despite having already launched on PC back in December 2014. There’s also meditative VR experience SoundSelf on display for those looking for something a little different to the standard VR experiences.
As for Gearbox Software, the company is said to be making a number of announcements at this year’s show, specifically during its ‘Inside Gearbox Software’ session at 10:30 CST on 25th January. Hopefully the developer will have something in VR to reveal, though this remains to be confirmed. VRFocus is at PAX South to bring you all of the latest on VR updates.
