Virtual reality (VR) film experiences are relatively new, however at Sundance this year VR films will feature like never before with 13 fresh experiences. Jaunt has released 3 of their VR film trailers via Oculus share. These include The Mission, The Black Mass Experience and finally Kaiju Fury which will be included in the lineup of VR films making an appearance at Sundance.
Each of these experiences is very different from each other. The Mission puts the audience in the midst of a World War II mission to deliver a case to a Russian commander. This promises to put people in the middle of intense fire-fights and gritty military action. Alternatively you have The Black Mass Experience which puts you in the in the position of someone who has been abducted waking up after being drugged in a room covered with blood as well as strange markings on the floor. VR filmmaking could very well create an immersive and terrifying experience for the audience. Finally there is Kaiju Fury. In a city being terrorised by two giant creatures, it will be up to two scientists trapped in a subway to defeat the monsters. Kaiju Fury will be part of Sundances New Frontier a group of films which break the barriers of conventional cinema.
These trailers are currently available online via Oculus Share. All of them are fully compatible with the Oculus Rift development kit 1 and 2 (DK1 and DK2). Along with Kaiju Fury other VR films will release at Sundance between January 22nd and February 1st. VRFocus will continue to keep you updated on all the latest VR film trailers coming to Oculus Share.
