Earlier this week VRFocus reported on news that the developer of Weightless, one of the many entrants in the Leap Motion 3D Jam, was hoping to release a full version of the virtual reality (VR) compatible title sometime in 2015. With public voting for the jam now closed, it will be revealed today just which entrants made it into the list of 20 finalists that will then compete for the top spot. While you wait for the results, the developer has provided some GIFs of Weightless, showing off its zero gravity gameplay.
The three GIFs showcase Weightless‘ playful tone, as players use the Leap Motion hand-tracking controller mounted to an Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) to interact with objects in a zero gravity environment. The player can be seen subtly spinning objects while bouncing others between their hands and even turning the gravity effects on and off using a wrist-mounted button.
The winner of the Leap Motion 3D Jam will be announced on 10th January 2015. Prizes include $30,000 USD in cash as well as the chance for the winning developers to showcase their creations at a Leap Motion booth at IndieCade East in New York City in February 2015. VRFocus will continue to follow both the title and the competition, reporting back with any further updates on them.
