Last month saw the launch of an intriguing virtual reality (VR) experience for the Google Cardboard smartphone-based head-mounted display (HMD) named War of Words. Created by BDH in partnership with the BBC, this free app was released as part of the ongoing events in honour of the 100th anniversary of World War 1. For those that have yet to sample the experience, a new trailer can now be seen below.
The trailer takes a look at War of Words visual interpretation of ‘The Kiss’, a poem written by WW1 soldier Siegfried Sassoon shortly before the Battle of the Somme. The footage is mixed with clips of reactions of people trying the app for the first time, gathering some positive impressions.
War of Words is available for free on the Android operating system (OS), though is also expected to launch on iOS in the near future. VRFocus will continue to follow the app, reporting back with any further updates.
