Iceberg Interactive have announced the launch of a holiday sale on Steam. Included in the line up is virtual reality (VR) videogame Starpoint Gemini 2 developed by indie developer Little Green Men Games. The videogame led a successful beta in early March and was released finally via Steam on the 22nd September 2014. The title is fully compatible with the second iteration Oculus Rift development kit (DK2).
Starpoint Gemini 2 puts players in control of their own fully customisable spacecraft. With this spacecraft you are able to openly traverse the universe, either to fight, or simply to trade. This sandbox title offers a variety of different ships to choose from with over 70 unique ships to upgrade at your leisure, including outfitting the ship with appropriate crew.
Different from other sandbox space strategy experiences, Starpoint Gemini 2 offers an RPG elements to upgrade your ships weapons, durability or agility. These will in the end help you determine how you will approach enemies and deal with certain situations. Other options in the freeroam mode can increase or decrease your standing with certain factions but will eliminate the need to fight an unbeatable enemy. In this respect it allows you to create your own person. Will you be a hardy ship captain or a roguish smuggler, the choice is yours. Travel in this game allows players to seamlessly travel from one system to another, however the use of wormholes can ease this by being able to travel a lot faster around the map.
This title is now available on Steam for £18.08 GBP, at a 33% reduction. Iceberg Interactive also has a selection of non-VR videogames on sale, including but not limited to Lords of the Black Sun, Gas Guzzlers Extreme, Armada 2526 and Adam’s Venture Complete Pack. VRFocus will keep you updated on VR videogame sales on Steam.
