Independent developers Proscenium are getting into the holiday spirit with a discounted offering to all virtual reality (VR) enthusiasts. Debut title Spectre is now available to download from Steam at a discounted price throughout the holiday season, reducing the cost of an Early Access purchase by 10%.
Spectre features a single player mode in which you play as a lone Seeker lost inside an abandoned mansion. You’ll soon discover that you are being stalked by the spectre despite being equipped with nothing but your headlight. Your ultimate goal is to explore the mansion and obtain a means of dispelling the looming spectre permanently. The core component of the videogame however, is it’s multiplayer experience.
In Spectre‘s multiplayer modes up to four players are able to take the roles of spectres and Seekers. The Seeker team must work together to gain the upper hand, while the spectre has its own arsenal of tricks it can use to deceive and disorient. The spectre’s abilities include creating traps that distort the Seekers’ vision and movement, and creating false immobilised Seeker decoys.
Having passed a successful crowd-funding campaign earlier this year, Spectre has attracted some attention from the VR community as a videogame built primarily with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) in mind. Spectre then proceeded to through the process of a Steam Greenlight campaign with ease and subsequently made it’s debut on Steam Early Access last month.
At the time of it’s Steam Early Access debut Spectre was offered at a discounted price for a limited time. That same discount can be gained now, until 2nd January 2015, with the price reduced from £8.99 GBP to just £8.09. VRFocus has been following Spectre closely and will keep you updated with all the latest details on this and other VR projects from Proscenium.
