Vertigo Games’ World of Diving launched it’s beta programme in the early part of this year and was met with a great reception. Moving onto Steam, now available via Early Access, only strengthened the community support. With this in mind, VRFocus has chosen World of Diving as part of the ongoing ’12 Days of VR Gaming’ feature series largely due to it’s comprehensive support of the Oculus Rift development kits.
World of Diving has been a keen supporter of virtual reality (VR) since it’s very first public debut, even appearing on Oculus VR’s own booth during Gamescom back in August of this year. Support for the first iteration of the Oculus Rift development kit, DK1, was included as standard and Vertigo Games were quick to ensure that DK2 compatibility followed shortly after the device became available.
Richard Stitselaar, Creative Director at Vertigo Games, offered the following comment on the current state of play: “World of Diving is a must-play for anyone interested in VR. Armed with the latest Oculus SDK (full DK1&2 support), World of Diving brings to life the gorgeous underwater realms of our world, such as tropical reefs, deep seas and legendary shipwrecks like the Bismarck. Explore alone or together with one of your new friends among 16,000+ community members. Discover a mysterious world unbound by time: a great way to unwind over the coming holiday season, with special X-Mas missions and loot to boot. Or create your own missions and share your best creations with others – the sky is the limit!”
World of Diving is currently available via Steam Early Access and on the official website for the videogame, where you will find a demo version available to download upon placing a pre-order. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on World of Diving and other VR experiences coming from Vertigo Games.
