Late last month visual technology start up group Condition One launched its first virtual reality (VR) film in Zero Point, a documentary detailing the history of the technology and viewable with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Its release has seemingly kick-started a wave of new VR movie projects, with further launches of titles such as 11:57 and the reveal of projects like Hell Mountain. Those who are yet to watch Zero Point will soon be able to pick it up as part of Steam’ autumn sale.
The movie has been discounted from its original $14.99 USD price point to just $4.99. This offer will run through from later today until 2nd December 2014, when it will return to that original price. Created and directed by Hell and Back Again’s Danfung Dennis, Zero Point takes viewers on a 360 degree journey of VR’s past and present, visiting locations such as Stanford research labs, the E3 tradeshow and even combat training simulations.
Zero Point can be viewed using either the first or second development kit (DK1 or DK2) for the Oculus Rift. VRFocus will continue to follow all VR media, reporting back with any further updates on the technology.
