Earlier in the year VRFocus reported on a new startup company named Virtual View Productions that was involved in the creation of several virtual reality (VR) projects including movies and videogames such Spirit City and Gulls at Dawn. Today the company has revealed that it is bringing new talent on-board in the form of American actor Lance Reddick, best known for his role as Captain Daniels on The Wire.
Reddick is joining Virtual View Productions as both a seed investor and producer. He’ll be helping the company to develop and produce a range of original VR movies for the likes of the Oculus Rift on PC, Project Morpheus on PlayStation 4 and Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based HMD. The first of these movies includes Spirit City as well as another sci-fi title by the name of Last Train to Salvation. Details on either project are still yet to be revealed.
“Sci-fi has always been a favourite genre for me as a film and TV fan and also as a writer,” Virtual View Productions CEO Stuart Gallop said of Reddick’s appointment. “Fringe and Lost have especially been favourite sci-fi shows for me, so to work with someone as talented as Lance in this exciting new entertainment medium is something that I wanted since the company’s inception.” Previews of both titles are being planned for release in early 2015.
VRFocus will continue to follow Virtual View Productions’ progress, reporting back with any further updates.
