Samsung’s annual Developer Conference is due to kick-off tomorrow at the Moscone Conference Center, San Francisco, and the forthcoming Gear VR is set to act as an integral part of the event. It would perhaps be easy to predict that a handful of new titles would be revealed for the mobile virtual reality (VR) device, but VRFocus can today reveal a small selection of the titles that will be on show.
The Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD) was originally revealed back in August at the Samsung Unpacked event in Berlin. Partnering with Oculus VR, creators of the industry-leading Oculus Rift, the Gear VR is a housing for the Galaxy Note 4, which recently launched in most major territories including the UK. Nearly 30 VR experiences were announced alongside the device but it’s clear that Samsung hasn’t stopped there, reportedly working to help fund the development of a number of exclusive VR experiences.
This week’s Developer Conference will play host to a number of previously seen titles, such as James’s Legacy: The Prologue, Omega Agent and Temple Run VR, however a number of new titles are set to join the line-up. These include Ozwe’s Anshar Wars, WemoLabs’ The Blu and UK based Immersive Media’s im360VR. Immersive Media recently grabbed headlines with their work on Taylor Swift’s Blank Space mobile app, which allows users to look around the set of her latest music video in full 360-degrees.
It’s not yet known which titles will be available for hands-on experiences, but it’s more than likely that all of the above will be playable on the eight-station booth that Samsung have in their ‘Game Zone’ at the Developer Conference. VRFocus will be bringing you live coverage of all the VR speaker sessions from the show floor tomorrow and much more besides.
