This month sees the launch of a Beta for a promising new virtual reality (VR) title from indie developer Pixels of Eight. The studio has launched a Beta for an Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) compatible version of Swivel Gun! on Mac. The Beta can currently be downloaded for free over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta, though there’s no confirmation of possible PC or Mac versions at this point in time.
Swivel Gun! is a first-person experience that pits players on a log ride, armed with a swivel gun. Players use the Oculus Rift’s head-tracking technology to take aim at barrels and then tap any button to blast them away. Though simple, the developer has said that it is hoping to make more tracks and add more features to the title in the future, though its currently not clear when exactly this might be.
Interestingly, PC specs for Swivel Gun! are listed on the title’s Oculus VR Share page, suggesting that a PC version of the title will see release in the future. The title features full support for both the Oculus Rift’s first and second development kits (DK1 and DK2). VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with all of the latest updates.
