Virtual reality (VR) fans will likely have heard of VRelia at some point in 2014. The company was one of the first to reveal its line-up of head-mounted displays (HMD) following the Oculus Rift HMD’s rise in popularity. The company has also merged with ImmersiON to create ImmersiON-VRelia and is now planning to launch its first HMD in The GO, a smartphone-based device that accommodates a range of handset sizes. This week the first release details for The GO have been announced. Fans won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the company’s first offering.
ImmersiON-VRelia has announced a partnership with TigerDirect, granting the latter exclusive national distribution rights to The GO. As such, the first units will in fact be on sale on Friday, 7th November at the TigerDirect Tech Bash in Marlins Park, Miami. The kit will be available in a limited quantity at the event, giving the chance for eager early adopters to pick one up. Following their sale, pre-orders for The GO will open both at the event and online via TigerDirect’s website. The company hopes to get the first pre-ordered units to consumers in December 2014. The kit will retail for $89 USD.
“The TigerDirect Tech Bash is quickly becoming the premier platform for witnessing the latest and greatest in technology here in South Florida, said TigerDirect’s Director of Corporate Marketing, Steven Leeds. “We are excited to reveal ImmersiON-VRelia’s new “The GO” HMD, giving South Florida tech enthusiasts a first look at this breakthrough virtual reality technology.”
Those interested in attending the event can gain free access by registering beforehand over on its official website. A $10 entrance fee will apply to those who do not pre-register. VRFocus will continue to follow ImmersiON-VRelia and The GO, reporting back with any further updates on the device and the company’s progress.
