There may not be many full videogames that officially support virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMD) at this point in time but at least the ones that do are expanding. One such title is Among the Sleep, the unique first-person horror title from indie developer Krillbite Studio. The developer released the much anticipated experience on PC, Mac and Linux earlier this year with full support for the Oculus Rift HMD. Now that experience has received a free piece of downloadable content (DLC).
The DLC amounts to a new playable story section in which players are again cast as a two year old toddler that originally left his cot in the middle of the night to investigate strange noises. As has been teased in the past, the new content features snowy environments. Players will explore these environments in first-person .
This isn’t the last that VR fans will hear of Among the Sleep. Shortly before the release of the PC version the developer also confirmed that the title was heading to PlayStation 4 and that the team was working with the Project Morpheus HMD. It’s yet to be outright confirmed that this version of the title will support the HMD or, if it does, when it might launch. It is possible that support could be patched in post-launch should the title release before the device itself.
VRFocus will continue to follow Among the Sleep, reporting back with any further updates on the title.
