Vertiginous Golf Update Adds New Multiplayer Modes

Indie developer Surpise Attack Games has been working to update its virtual reality (VR) compatible mini golf title, Vertiginous Golf, ever since it launched on Steam Early Access in March 2014. The title still isn’t available in full just yet but has made a big stride towards that release this week with the launch of a new update that adds online multiplayer modes. On top of the new modes, the developer has also cut Vertiginous Golf‘s price by 50% to £5.99 GBP until 13th October.

Vertiginous Golf‘s unusual brand of online multiplayer comes in three varieties. The first is a traditional Classic mode. This is similar to the already available offline mode in which players compete across a range of courses. Along with dodging various obstacles along the course the game can be switched up by including optional weapons that can be used to make holes harder for other players.

More intentive are the new Arena and Race modes. The former requires players to control maps by sinking their ball into different holes. Again, weapons can be used by rolling balls over coloured eggs. When weapons are available, players control a hummingbird to either attack their opponent or defend themselves. Race mode also includes weapons, but asks players to try and score as quickly as possible as they hit their ball along the course.

Suprise Attack Games still intends to fully release Vertiginous Golf later in 2014, although a specific date is yet to be set. The title features full support for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD). VRFocus will continue to follow the experience closely, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
