It’s almost time for another virtual reality (VR) community Meetup. Tuesday 28th October sees the seventh San Francisco VR (SFVR) event take place, bringing with it a wide range of VR exhibits, talks and demos. Highlighting the line up is a tease of a ‘special announcement’ from Sixense about the anticipated launched of its upcoming STEM System motion controllers for VR experiences.
Following a successful Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for the STEM System, Sixense has pushed back the launch of Silver Bundle level pre-production prototypes from July 2014 to this October, although a specific date for the the shipments is yet to be announced. The reveal at the upcoming SFVR could be related to this shipping date then, if not about the normal units that are set to be sent out afterwards.
That isn’t all that will be taking place at this month’s event, though. Two are speakers are set for SFVR, the first of which being developer Skillman & Hackett, who will talk share their own processes and lessons for VR development. 3D visualisation company WorldViz will also be offering a talk while motion control system Nod, VR controller software Pantomime, Virtual Reality Sound Effects and NavigateVR will also be on display.
SFVR #7 will kick off at 18:30 PDT at Ntropic/Tactic located at 1025 Battery St, San Francisco, California. Those interested can RSVP over on the group’s official Meetup page. VRFocus will continue to follow each and every VR-related event, reporting back with any further updates.
