Last month Pixel Rift developer Ana Ribeiro enjoyed a successful showing of her upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible videogame at the EGX expo in Earls Court, London. The title, which was on display with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), proved popular as Ribeiro confirmed with a Twitter post showing the queue to play it. Those that missed out on a chance to try the demo will also have the chance to catch it at the upcoming GameCity event in Nottingham.
Taking place from 25th October – 1st November 2014, GameCity is a unique videogame festival spread across Nottingham that celebrates a diverse line up of interactive art for all ages. Pixel Rift will be featuring in the Open Arcade section of this year’s show along with a wide range of other indie-developed videogames. The title will of course be playable with the Oculus Rift and Riberio will be at the event herself.
Pixel Rift is a unique VR experience in which players follow the life of Nicola, a videogame fan that has a particular affection for the fictional Pixel Rift series of videogames. Players will control Nicola through various stages of her life, playing different incarnations of Pixel Rift across different platforms and different environments. VRFocus took a look at the title earlier in the year and found it to be one of the more promising upcoming VR projects.
Pixel Rift is currently running a Steam Greenlight campaign to be approved for sale on Valve’s digital store. VRFocus will continue to follow the title in the future, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
