You might not think that converting mobile videogames to PC with virtual reality (VR) support would make for the most immersive experiences, but that hasn’t stopped some developers giving it a shot. Offroad 3D eXtreme from Egamea Game Studio is the latest in a long list of iOS and Android operating system (OS) titles that are coming to PC with support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). The developer recently posted a demo of the title over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta.
Offroad 3D eXtreme is a third-person racing experience in which players guide a range of vehicles across rough terrain. The title looks similar to Ubisoft’s Trials series in that players move along a set course, jumping over ramps and pulling off stunts, only with four-wheeled vehicles instead of motorbikes. Currently the demo is only compatible with the first development kit (DK1) for the Oculus Rift, with support for the second development kit (DK2) yet to be confirmed.
Egamea Game Studio lists this sample as a tech demo, meaning the full title might not see Oculus Rift support. That said, the title remains in development, with the team adding new level packs. Currently the demo is available for both PC and Mac. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all VR supported titles, bringing you the latest on them.
