Yesterday VRFocus reported that upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible horror title Medusa’s Labyrinth would be launching a Kickstarter campaign for crowd-funding this week. Today developer Guru Games has launched that campaign, revealing that it hopes to raise kr2,500,000 SEK/ $345616.50 USD £214,478.75 GBP by 21st November 2014. If successful then Medusa’s Labyrinth will launch with full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
Medusa’s Labyrinth aims to mix the atmosphere of horror titles such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent with the stealth mechanics of the likes of Thief. The videogame is set on Temple Island in ancient Greece, with players exploring labyrinthine environments, fighting monsters and more. Players will interact with the environment using torches and even use a bow and arrow. The title is being developed using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4.
Those interested in Medusa’s Layer can currently back kr110 to secure an early bird copy of the title. Once the first 2,500 of these slots are used up the price increases to kr130. Backer rewards go all the way up to kr10,000 where 10 backers can secure a one of a kind statue made in their likeness. The title is planning to release on PC in March 2016.
VRFocus will continue to follow Medusa’s Labyrinth, reporting back with any further updates on the title’s development.
