Earlier in October 2014 VRFocus reported on the launch of a new demo for Guided Meditation, a virtual reality (VR) compatible relaxation experience that works with the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2). Now that demo has launched on Oculus VR’s own software portal, the Oculus VR Share Beta. As with the original release, the demo can be downloaded for free on both PC and Mac. A possible Linux version is yet to be confirmed.
Guided Meditation is a simply experience in which players can choose from a variety of locales to visit and rest in. As it stands the title includes four different locations: the rain-drenched Birchnut Forest, the barren Cosmo Canyon, the sunny beaches of Costa Del Sol and the peaceful Yokosuka Garden. Players can switch between environments, using the Oculus Rift to immerse themselves in each one and create a sense of presence.
Developer Cubicle Ninjas is currently asking the community for new ideas for settings for the full release of Guided Meditation, which is expected to launch in autumn 2015 on PC and Mac. Details on how many locations the full title might contain or any other new options are yet to be revealed. The title is also expected to launch on Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based HMD in the future. VRFocus will continue to follow Guided Meditation in the future, reporting back with all the latest updates on its progress.
