Glitchspace Coming to GameCity

If you’ve been following VRFocus this week then you’ll already know that two virtual reality (VR) compatible videogames are set to appear at the GameCity Festival in Nottingham, UK from 25th October – 1st November 2014. The first is Ana Ribeiro’s Pixel Rift while the other is Triangular Pixel’s Smash Hit Plunder. Now it has been revealed that the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) compatible first-person platform title Glitchspace will be joining them.

Glitchspace is another title that will be featured at GameCity’s Open Arcade section. Developer Space Budgie will be exhibiting the experience, which is currently available through Steam’s Early Access service on PC, Mac and Linux for £6.99 GBP. Oculus Rift support was reintroduced to the title late last August, although currently only includes support for the first development kit (DK1), with no word yet on when the second kit (DK2) might be supported.

Glitchspace is a first-person experience in which players progamme platforms in order to manipulate them and progress through levels. It’s possible to move platforms across levels and change their size by firing code with a ‘programming gun’, giving the experience a first-person shooter (FPS) asthetic. The full version of the title is currently expected to release in March 2015. VRFocus will continue to follow the title as it moves towards launch, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
