Elite: Dangerous Dev Misses Most Wanted, Studio of the Year at Golden Joysticks

Despite huge anticipation for the upcoming release of Elite: Dangerous, the title has missed out on securing the Most Wanted award at this year’s Golden Joystick Awards in London, UK. The developer faced stiff completion from the likes of Evolve, Halo 5: Guardians and overall winner The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. At the same time developer Frontier Developments also missed out on winning the Studio of the Year award.

Elite: Dangerous is a virtual reality (VR) compatible space combat title in which players sit in the cockpit of various space craft at they pilot them. The title is currently running an expansive Beta testing period, which will soon be turned into its full version on PC with full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). A specific date for the full version’s launch is yet to be announced, although it should be happening in 2014.

VRFocus will continue to follow Elite: Dangerous leading up to release, reporting back with any further updates on the title’s progress.
