A slew of new horror experiences have come to the Oculus VR Share Beta in its most recent update. Some are short experiences while others are full videogames. The Apparition Within The Rift from indie developer Rogue Agents Studios sits in between as an environmental demo for the upcoming full experience. The demo is compatible with the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) and is compatible now.
The Apparition Within The Rift is a first-person experience set within a haunted house that is said to contain a gateway to another place and time known as ‘The Rift’. The demo will let players explore the first floor of the house, although lacks many of the features players can expect from the full title. This includes the likes of enemy characters, a narrative and the upper floors of the house.
“The game is designed to give you a little spook here and there (and not scare you to death) so don’t worry about anything jumping in your face,” the developer notes in the title’s description. “Think of it as a spooky Halloween fun house.”
The Apparition Within The Rift is compatible with both the Oculus Rift’s first and second development kits (DK1 and DK2). The developer has asked for anyone that samples the demo to offer feedback about their experience. It’s yet to be revealed when the update version of the title might be launched. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with any further updates.
