The zombie obsession that seems to have infected much of the videogame industry over the past few years is yet to find its way to virtual reality (VR) experiences. That changes somewhat this week with the release of Zombeeze, a new title from Desolate Spectre Studios that features full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) and a healthy helping of hordes of the undead.
Zombeeze is a first-person experience in which players find themselves in a graveyard that is quickly filling up with zombies coming back from the dead. It’s player’s job to safely find a way out of the area without running into any of the monsters. That’s easier said than done, however, as the zombies inch closer to the player with each move they make, giving them very little time to make their escape with almost no room for errors as they plot a course.
The experience currently features 10 levels, although the developer has teased that it could release a second version with even more content. As players search for a way out the level, number of moves and time will be display on the left side of the screen. This first version also features full support for the first and second development kits (DK1 and DK2) for the Oculus Rift.
Zombeeze can currently be downloaded on PC over on the official Oculus Share Beta, where it is available for free. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with any further updates.
