Another unique virtual reality (VR) adventure title has released a demo this week. Indie developer Jurgen Ziewe has launched a pre-release version of his first-person adventure title, Dreams Before Dawn, which is compatible with the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD). The experience can currently be downloaded for free over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta, a portal for sharing free VR experiences. Currently only a PC version of the experience exists.
Dreams Before Dawn is a surreal adventure title in which players can explore a range of fantastical environments. According to the developer the title was originally created to bring 2D artwork to life, inspired by lucid dreams. In this demo version players can use the Oculus Rift to explore one area, populated with strange sights and impressive scenery. The full release will feature ‘dream spheres’ that will try to capture players and whisk them off to other worlds.
It’s currently not clear when Dreams Before Dawn might see a full release, then. The title is certainly promising some intriguing concepts, though remains as a simple exploration experience comparable to many other Oculus Rift titles at this point in time. VRFocus will continue to follow Dreams Before Dawn going forward, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
