Virtual reality (VR) has already proved its worth as a marketing tool. The Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD) featured heavily at this year’s San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), providing users with unique experiences set in famous franchises such as X-Men and Pacific Rim. This week sees the reveal of yet another new marketing experience to use the device, this time based around popular TV talent show, The Voice. The Voice 360: Be the Judge, as it’s called, will be heading to various cities throughout the US in the next two weeks.
Mashable has revealed the experience, which casts players as one of the judges on the show. Traditionally, the show features four judges sitting facing the audience as a singer comes out onto a stage and performs. Should a judge choose to back a singer, they press a button on their chair and are turned round to face the contestant. This experience is largely true of The Voice 360: Be the Judge, where users will sit alongside No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrel Williams, experiencing what they go through during the show.
The Voice 360: Be the Judge will start its tour off today in New York for its first two dates before moving to Chicago and onto Los Angeles. A full schedule for the event can be seen below. the tour concludes on 22nd September, which is the first day of the new season of the show on NBC.
