Many virtual reality (VR) enthusiasts have dreamed of seeing their favourite franchises and videogames adapted for the technology. Today sees fans of the popular mobile series Temple Run have their prayers answered; Temple Run VR has been revealed for Samsung’s new Gear VR smartphone-based head-mounted display (HMD). The title was available for sampling soon after the reveal of the device at Samsung’s Unpacked event in Berlin, Germany, where it revealed both the Gear VR and the compatible Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Temple Run VR is simply a straight up conversion of the beloved title to VR. The experience is an endless running videogame in which players dodge obstacles as they try to survive for as long as possible moving ever forward, gathering as much gold as possible as they go. The original 2011 title even spawned a sequel, Temple Run 2, though it’s not yet clear if content from both titles will be in this version.
This is just one in a huge range of virtual reality (VR) compatible videogames to be announced today along with Gear VR. Other popular franchises such as Marvel are also creating experiences, while original titles such as two new additions from nDreams are also in development. VRFocus will continue to follow Temple Run VR and all Gear VR experiences going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
