The full release of virtual reality (VR) compatible space simulation title Starpoint Gemini 2 has been a long time coming. Indie developer Little Green Men Games has kept the experience in Beta for most of 2014, with support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) highlighting its long list of features. The title is available through Steam’s Early Access service for £18.99 GBP, but has this week announced when it will launch in full. Thankfully, fans of the title won’t have to wait long.
Starpoint Gemini 2 will launch on PC on 22nd September 2014. Though another entry in the already popular space simulation genre, the title separates itself from the likes of EVE: Valkyrie with an RPG system that allows players to improve and customise ships as they take part in real-time battles. It also features more than 70 different playable ships, each of which is fully upgradeable with visual improvements and advanced weaponry among other aspects.
Those that are looking forward to the full release of the title this Friday might want to purchase an Early Access copy now; the developer has said that the price will likely be higher for the full version of the title. It’s not yet clear if the full release supports the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2). VRFocus will continue to follow Starpoint Gemini 2 going forward, reporting back with any further updates on the title’s development.
