Samsung’s 2014 Unpacked event is still underway, but has already played host to the reveal of the Gear VR smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). More information on the device is still to be unveiled, although developers are ready to pledge their support for the device. One such developer is Triangular Pixels, which is bringing its upcoming Smash Hit Plunder to the device.
Smash Hit Plunder places players in a dungeon which they must explore and loot for treasure. The title is focused on destruction, with players smashing objects to find as much as possible. The title is said to be ‘designed from the ground up for the Gear’. The title is of course also coming to the Oculus Rift VR HMD in the future.
“We passionately believe in accessible VR, with a low barrier to entry and a solid, engaging experience. The Gear VR is a truly brilliant device,” the developer noted in a press release. “The touchpad is familiar and easily understandable, and the wireless design allows Smash Hit Plunder players to explore the 3D nature of VR without cables restricting them.”
Triangular Pixels will be revealig more information about Smash Hit Plunder in the near future including a launch date. A demo will also be launching with the UK release of Gear VR. VRFocus will continue to follow the title going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
