Indie developer Fireproof Games has rightly made for a name for itself with its celebrated mobile puzzle series, The Room. So when the team announces a virtual reality (VR) title, fans should pay attention. And this week the developer has done just that, revealing Omega Agent exclusively for Samsung’s newly revealed Gear VR smartphone-based head-mounted display (HMD). The device itself was revealed earlier this week at Samsung’s Unpacked event in Berlin, Germany.
Omega Agent is set on a remote island used to train super-spies in the Cold War era. Players are given a nuclear-powered jetpack to explore the island with, completing challenges and missions in an effort to graduate to the rank of the Omega Agent. It is a first-person experience, with information on challenges and being display on the jetpack’s harness. Although set on an island, a futuristic urban environment does feature in the title.
Little else about the title has been revealed for far, although it will be on display as the Eurogamer Expo in London from 25th – 28th September 2014. A launch date for the full title is yet to be revealed. At the same time, Fireproof Games has revealed The Room Three, although this isn’t expected to be a VR title. VRFocus will continue to follow Omega Agent, reporting back with any further updates on the title’s progress.
