RIP Dev Teases Early Access Release

It’s been a while since Russian developer Axyos Games has provided on update on its upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible first-person shooter (FPS), RIP. The team has remained hard at work on the title since it passed its Steam Greenlight campaign earlier in 2014, and is now finally ready to start talking about a release for consumers. As such, the developer has today teased an Early Access launch for the title.

Axyos Games has issued an update on its Greenlight campaign page, providing an in-game image of a soldier running towards the camera. The image is accompanied with the message “He is running to the Steam! Are you ready for Early Access? This fall game will be released with a few start achievements.” A more specific date for the Early Access launch was not given, neither were pricing or platform details.

RIP is a modern multiplayer FPS which features full support for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD). Rather than have players build their own character with perks and skills, the title pits everyone on a level playing field at the beginning of every match and lets them build up over the course of a match before starting from scratch in the next round. It’s not clear if the Early Access release will include VR support right now.

Past the Early Access version Axyos Games still hopes to launch the full version of RIP in 2015. VRFocus will continue to follow the title going forward, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
