Project Morpheus’ Summer Lesson Gets First Footage

Earlier today Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) held its annual pre-Tokyo Game Show (TGS) conference. While Project Morpheus wasn’t expected to be a highlight of the show, a new title for the device was revealed. That title was Summer Lesson from Tekken creator Katsuhiro Harada. Details about the title are currently scarce, though more information about it can be gleamed from its announcement video, which can be seen below.

While Harada himself can be seen talking about the title while holding the Project Morpheus, the footage is entirely in Japanese, even in the English-translated live stream. However the actual gameplay does reveal some more about the title. The school girl first seen in screen caps features heavily, with players seemingly interacting with her in what appears to be a dorm or bedroom.

Crucially at one point the player can be seen shaking and nodding their head to say either yes or no to the character. It’s not clear if there will be any other ways to communicate with the girl; the PlayStation Camera includes voice support though its integration was not mentionned here. Elsewhere the player and character can be seen looking at a note pad and more. It’s currently not clear if this is all simple another tech demo for Project Morpheus or a full title.

VRFocus will continue to follow Summer Lesson going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
