Oculus Connect has just started its second day and Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe is currently on stage just kicking off his keynote speech for the first ever event. Speaking about the future of VR and the event to come, Iribe provided an update on just how many development kits the company has currently shipped for the device, and it’s impressive to say the least.
Iribe confirmed that over 100,000 development kits have shipped so far since the company shipped the first development kit (DK1). It has of course since gone on to ship its second development kit (DK2) as recently as July 2014. In fact, Iribe went on to suggest that number could now total 130,000 en counting. And those kits have even been spread out to 130 different countries over the course of two years since the Oculus Rift’s DK1 was successfully Kickstarted, rasing over $2.5 million USD.
VRFocus is at Oculus Connect this weekend to bring you all the latest updates from the company. Look for more updates from all the talks, presentations and panels as we head on.
