Virtual reality (VR) dedicated development studio Ghost Machine has kept us well-informed about its upcoming VR racing title, Motorsport Revolution, throughout 2014. The title has been available through an alpha release since last May and has seen a slew of content updates and more since that tile. Those that have been waiting for the full launch of the title won’t have that much longer to wait however, as Ghost Machine has recently announced the full launch date for Motorsport Revolution via Steam.
The title will be available on PC on 17th September 2014 with full compatibility for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display’s (HMD) second development kit (DK2). The racing title takes inspiration from other arcade experiences such as Forza Motorsport and the Grid series, allowing players to compete across a range of different types of events with over 20 different cars and around 10 tracks to choose between. The title’s VR support will be recognised as part of Steam’s dedicated category of Oculus Rift compatible videogames.
Ghost Machine recently confirmed that both Motorsport Revolution and its upcoming VR flight simulator, Final Burn, will also be coming to Samsung’s recently announced Gear VR smartphone-based HMD. A release date for this version of the title is yet to be announced. VRFocus will continue to follow both experiences going forward, reporting back with any further updates on their development.
