Earlier in the month NBC revealed a new virtual reality (VR) experience based on the popular television talent contest, The Voice. Named The Voice 360: Be the Coach, it was revealed soon afterwards that celebrated VR developer and Senza Peso creator Kite & Lightning was behind the experience, which has recently finished touring the US. Now the project has officialy been released online for all to try.
The Vocie 360: Be The Coach is currently available from the official Oculus VR Share Beta for free on PC. The experience casts players as one of the judges on the show, sitting alongside the likes of Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. They will then experience a ‘blind audition’ in which they face the audience as a contestant takes the stage and starts to sing.
““The Voice 360: Be the Coach” was created for fans, many of whom are first-time Oculus Rift users, to experience “The Voice” in an entirely new and intimate way,” the developer explains in the title’s description. “To kick off the new season of The Voice, “The Voice 360: Be the Coach” went on a tour across the country with the physical red coaches’ chairs, adding a 4D element. During the experience, the physical chair and the virtual chair spin in sync to reveal the performer.”
The experience is compatible with both the first and second development kits (DK1 and DK2) for the Oculus Rift. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with all the latest updates.
