Indie developer Kite & Lightning has enjoyed a positive reaction to its Senza Peso virtual reality (VR) experience since it launched earlier in the year. Developed using Unreal Engine 4, the title has been taken under Epic Games’ wing, with the company using it as a showcase for its engine at various events in the past few months. Today sees a new version of the mini-opera launch, now with compatibility for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display’s (HMD) second development kit (DK2), which can be downloaded from the developer’s website. But that’s not all the team is introducing today.
Senza Peso‘s DK2 update releases with a special launcher for all of Kite & Lightning’s past work, granting access to each of its demos in one spot. On top of this, the launcher will be able to autoupdate their company’s experiences, meaning users won’t have to hunt for any further updates to Senza Peso and the rest of the studio’s back catalog. Fans of the team’s work will also be able to register for the chance to get access to private betas and other bonuses.
The system was implemented after email-based communication became too strenuous for the developer. It’s also teased that the launcher lays the foundation for ‘awesome’ things to come, but Kite & Lightning can’t comment on anything specific at this time. Could this perhaps refer to new VR projects beyond Senza Peso? VRFocus will continue to follow the developer going forward, reporting back with any further updates to its VR projects.
