One of the many virtual reality (VR) videogames announced last week for Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based head-mounted display (HMD) was James’s Legacy, a new third-person adventure title from Korean developer Nestoss. In fact the title was one of the first experiences to be revealed for the new device, with footage shown during Samsung’s Unpacked reveal event in Berlin, Germany on 3rd September 2014. Now the first footage of the title has released online, can can be seen below.
Just under half a minute of James’s Legacy can be seen below, showcasing the title’s bright visuals and adventure gameplay. A variety of mechanics are teased within the clip, including creating structures, gathering collectibles and solving puzzles. The title’s blocky animations certainly fit well with the Super Mario Galaxy-esque planet exploration. Just how these various ideas come together for the full experience remains to be seen.
James’s Legacy will be available as a ‘light version’ at the launch of Gear VR in mid-October 2014. A full version is expcted to launch in January 2015. VRFocus will continue to follow the title going forward, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
