Not wanting to be left out of the vast range of developers that have pledged support towards Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) today, indie developer Ghost Machine has confirmed that it will be bringing its upcoming slate of titles to the device. The includes the Oculus Rift-bound racing title Motorsport Revolution and flight simulator Final Burn.
Both titles are currently available in pre-release form. The developer also suggested that its other titles will be coming to the platform, meaning it could we release motorbike racer SuperBike TT, Zombie Taxi Apocalypse and all other future experiences on the device. For now, these initial two titles are simply described as ‘on the horizon’ for the Gear VR release, with no mention of more specific release dates.
“As soon as we heard of the partnership between VR pioneers Oculus and the mobile hardware leader Samsung, we’ve been planning and designing optimized VR experiences with the mobile market in mind”, said Ghost Machine CEO Neal Nellans. “The ability to (potentially) reach an entirely different audience that can experience VR is a truly exciting opportunity”,
Gear VR is compatible with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 smartphone. The device boasts a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. A range of other developers revealed support for the device today, with many more still looking hopeful.
