The Assembly developer nDreams was one of the first of many developers to pledge support to Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) last week. The developer revealed that it was working on not one but two experiences for the device. The first, Perfect Beach, is a simple relaxation-based piece, while the second, Gunner, take the form of a more traditional videogame. The first trailer for Gunner can now be seen below.
Clocking in at just under 40 seconds, Gunner‘s trailer provides a clear sense of the title’s atmosphere, art style and gameplay. It demonstrates how players use the Gear VR’s head-tracking to take control of a heavily-armed gun turret in space, simply looking at targets to fire and take them down. There’s a brief look at some of the title’s other mechanics too, as a montage of shots gives an idea of where players will be heading throughout the experience.
Gunner is planning to release later in the year, with Gear VR itself aiming to launch in mid-Ocotober 2014. VRFocus will continue to follow the title moving forward, reporting back with any furthers updates on its development.
