Yet another virtual reality (VR) videogame has revealed that it will be releasing on Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based VR head-mounted display (HMD) today. That title is Dreadhalls from indie developer White Door Games. The horror title is already coming to the Oculus Rift VR HMD, but will now also arrive on Android with support for the newly-unveiled HMD, which uses the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
“I’m happy to announce that the upcoming commercial version of Dreadhalls will also be available for Samsung’s virtual reality platform: Gear VR,” the developer wrote in an update to Dreadhalls‘ website. The title is a first-person horror experience in which players try to escape a procedurally generated dungeon that changes with each new life. Players must avoid traps as they are hunted by horrific monsters.
White Door Games explained that the Gear VR version would differ somewhat but still feature ‘the same core Dreadhalls experience’. “Making sure the game worked smoothly in the mobile device was a challenging task,” the team said, “requiring many hours of work and custom graphical optimizations.”
Dreadhalls is far from the first title to be revealed for Gear VR today and certainly won’t be the last. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all videogames supporting the device, reporting back with the latest.
