Last week virtual reality (VR) compatible ‘hollywood hacking’ title Darknet was displayed at PAX Prime 2014. VRFocus spoke to developer E McNeill, who suggested that the title could come to other VR head-mounted displays (HMD) in the future, though the Oculus Rift release was the focus for now. As it turns out, Darknet is coming to the recently-announced Gear VR smartphone-based VR HMD.
Darknet is a hacking title in which players solve procedurally developed challenges. The title is inspired by exagerated versions of hacking as seen in movies such as Ghost in the Shell and more. McNeill confirmed that it will in fact be a Gear VR launch title for when the device launches later in the year. This of course means that the title is launching on Android and will at least run on the Gear VR compatible Smasung Galaxy Note 4.
More information about Gear VR is still flooding in. Many more titles are being announced from those that are currently working with Oculus Rift VR HMD. Creator Oculus VR is also collaborating with the device. Keep it locked to VRFocus for all the latest on the device and its supported videogames.
