Space combat is proving to be a popular genre for virtual reality (VR) videogames with the likes of EVE: Valkyrie and Elite: Dangerous proving to be some of the most high-profile upcoming videogames for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Indie developer VR Bits is another team that is taking for shot at the sci-fi action with its upcoming first-person space flight simulator, Darkfield VR. Those interested in the title will soon be able to help make it a reality with the launch of a Kickstarter campaign.
While not providing a specific date, VR Bits has confirmed that its Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for Darkfield VR will launch ‘soon’. A specific date for the campaign was not given, although the developer did reveal that it will allow potential backers to exchange any rewards they might get for coupons for extra copies of the title, which they can then share with friends.
“We thank you so much for backing Darkfield on our website and without you, nothing of this would have been possible,” the developer said of the title’s progress so far. “Now we need to get more public attention, get more backers and flesh out our new gameplay modes which we will announce in our Kickstarter. It would be great if you could help us out again in reaching our Kickstarter goal.”
VR Bits also confirmed that it would send out another email to alert fans of the Kickstarter launch. VRFocus will continue to follow Darkfield VR going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
