War Thunder, the virtual reality (VR) compatible World War 2 era combat title from Gaijin Entertainment, has allowed users to create their own content such as skins, missions and new planes and tanks and use it locally since April 2014. Now the developer has announced intentions to sell the best of these community created pieces online, with a portion of the revenue going towards the creators themselves.
This new feature will be included in the titles 1.43 update. All War Thunder users will be able to shop for user-generated content that has been hand-picked by Gaijin Entertainment itself. Creators can earn up to 25% of the gross revenue made from the sales of their pieces.
“Empowering our players with the ability to create, share and earn through War Thunder Live exemplifies the dedication and passion of War Thunder‘s fantastic player base, encouraging our community and fans to contribute to the game via this initiative can only make the game a richer and more rewarding experience for players everywhere,” said Creative Director Kirill Yudintsev.
War Thunder recently saw an update to include support for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display’s (HMD) second development kit. The title will also be heading to Gamescom 2014 next week on 13th – 17th August 2014 to show off the VR integration. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress going forward, reporting back with any further updates.
