Upcoming non-combat massively multiplayer online (MMO) experience Wander has been teasing its eventual alpha release throughout most of 2014. The title, which supports the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) has released a range of trailers and screenshots throughout the year, though hasn’t provided much of an idea about when fans might finally get to play it for the first time. That changed today as the developer outlined a release window.
“We’re hoping the Steam alpha version will be out in early September,” the developer recently revealed when asked about a release date. “We might get it out earlier but Gamescom and PAX take time!”
Given that this is an alpha version, it’s likely that this will be a Steam Early Access release of Wander. That still leaves several questions, such as if Oculus support will be included in the initial release, when the title will be ready for a full launch and just when will the already-confirmed PlayStation 4 version be releasing? Project Morpheus VR HMD support is also yet to be confirmed for the latter.
That said, as the message reveals, Wander will be showing off at Gamescom later this month on 13th – 17th August in Cologne, Germany. VRFocus will be at the show to bring you all the latest updates on the title and any other VR videogames.
