MAG Studios is currently working on two sci-fi videogames carrying the Ghostship name. One is a first-person shooter named CDF Ghostship while the other is a horror experience titled Ghostship Aftermath. Both titles will feature full support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). In fact Ghostship Aftermath has recently received a release date for its VR compatible version. It turns out that fans won’t have to wait too much longer to get their hands on the title.
The developer recently confirmed to VRFocus that Ghostship Aftermath will launch on 8th August 2014, marking its launch on Friday of this week. This first release will be compatible with the Oculus Rift’s first development kit (DK1) at least. The developer did state that support for the second development kit (DK2) may make it in time, though the developer is waiting for support to reach the Unreal Development Kit before it can be properly implemented.
Ghostship Aftermath is set on a spaceship infested with hostile aliens. Players will have to fight off enemies with firearms while managing inventory health supplies. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress going forward, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
[UPDATE] MAG Studios has reached out to VRFocus to reveal that CDF Ghostship won’t support VR. Only Ghostship Aftermath, which is available now on Steam, will receive support for the Oculus Rift as dated. VRFocus apologises for the error.
