Virtual reality (VR) has often been cited for its potential relaxing applications. While there are plenty of action-based experiences available for the likes of the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD), there’s also a wide range of calmer, awe-inspiring titles such as Horizon and Rest & Relaxation or upcoming story-based experiences like Dream. Unello Design’s Eden River is aiming to join these types of titles when it releases later this month on PC with support for both the first and second development kits (DK1 and DK2) for the Oculus Rift.
Eden River will be available next week on 8th August 2014. The title simply asks players to enjoy the ride as they drift down a peaceful river, surrounded by picturesque nature and wildlife. As they journey on, players can enjoy an original score from lead developer Aaron Lemke, including soothing acoustic music. While a linear story mode is included, Eden River also boasts an endless experience option as well as classic variations of both based on the original demo released in November 2013.
While there’s still a week to go before the title’s release, those interested can pre-order now to get exclusive access to another demo from the developer. That demo is Opera Nova, a music-based experience inspired by the Disney classic Fantasia. Also compatible with the Oculus Rift DK2, the title mixes colour and sound with binaural audio to present a unique and relaxing experience.
VRFocus will continue to follow Eden River going forward, bringing you any more updates as it heads towards release.
