Another intriguing new virtual reality (VR) experience has seen release recently. House of Secrets has launched Uncharted Territory, a first-person exploration title on PC with support for the first and second development kits (DK1 and DK2) for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD).The experience is currently available to download for free over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta on PC.
Uncharted Territory is described as an ‘experimental project’ that focuses on atmosphere and immersion. It places users in a desert-like alien environment in which objects are few and far between. The player, seemingly housed in a protective suit, is able to roam the landscape, investigating points of interest, including a structure that can be seen off in the distance. The developer recommends playing the title with headphones for added immersion.
First-person experiences such as this are popular on the Oculus Rift, though they mostly remain in this small, indie developed form right now. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with any further updates.
