Indie developer Thiago Alcantara has shown a dedication to virtual reality (VR) technology throughout 2014. The developer has created a range of fan projects with the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD), allowing players to explore iconic scenes and more. Now the developer has released a new, original project, which can be downloaded in full for free. That project is The Talisman of Tantanon, which is available on the official Oculus VR Share Beta.
“In this new experience you are Nathan Barkley, in search of the Talisman of Tantanon,” Alcantara explains on the title’s Share page. “Legend says that those who were behind the talisman, never returned. Find out what happened to Nathan, while trying to survive the dangers of the tomb of Tantanon.” The experience is played from a first-person perspective.
According to the developer The Talisman of Tantanon is only a short experience which should take players anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes to complete. The title features three different areas which players will start from the beginning of each time they die. The experience is compatible with both the first and second versions of the Oculus Rift’s development kit (DK1 and DK2).
Talisman of Tantanon is currently available on PC. Mac or Linux versions are yet to be mentionned. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with any more updates.
