Gamescom 2014 gets underway tomorrow on 13th August, running through to 17th August. While the first day will be reserved for press as per usual, the show will later open up to the public. This year attendees willl have the chance to go hands on with Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE) Project Morpheus virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) for PlayStation 4. This marks the first time the public has had the chance to try Project Morpheus on this scale.
SCE’s plans for the headset at this year’s show aren’t yet clear. The company is scheduled to host its annual Gamescom press conference later today at 18:00 BST. Throughout the past two weeks there have been teases as to what it will show during the conference, with hints that it could be showing off Until Dawn, Supermassive Games’ horror title that was originally revealed for PlayStation 4. However recent rumours have suggested that the title could now appear on PlayStation 4 with support for Project Morpheus
Just if this rumour is true and what consumers will be able to try with Project Morpheus on the show floor remains to be seen. Project Morpheus will be located in public hall 7 on the show floor. It could well be that the range of demos available at E3 2014 are once again on display here. VRFocus is at Gamescom this week to bring you all the latest from the VR industry from SCE, Oculus VR and any other companies.
