Virtual reality (VR) meetups have continued to grow throughout 2014, with local communities banding together to talk about the technology and show off projects and products. The San Francisco Virtual Reality (SFVR) meetup is no exception to this trend, and has today announced its lineup for the upcoming sixth event. Said event will be taking place on 2nd September 2014 at Firefox internet browser owner Mozilla’s own offices in downtown San Francisco from 19:00 PDT.
The lineup includes some household names in the virtual reality (VR) industry including none other than Oculus VR, creator of the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD). It’s not exactly clear what the company will be showing at the event, though it’s likely to involve the recently launched second development kit (DK2). Also on board is Sixense, the company behind the STEM motion controller for VR experiences, with CEO Amir Rubin even hosting a talk.
Another talk will be hosted by Craig Dalton and Patrick Buckley of DODOcase, a build-your-own VR smartphone kit that costs just $25 USD. On top of that, Jaunt VR, a company that has enjoyed a lot of coverage lately with its camera for shooting experiences that can be viewed with VR HMDs, will also be at the event, showing off its own technology. As well as hosting, Mozilla will be providing catering for the event.
