Earlier in the year indie developer Playful Corp. announced that it was developing two virtual reality (VR) videogames for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD). The first is Creativerse, which launched on Steam Early Access this week with VR support due in the future. The second is Lucky’s Tale, a third-person platform title that has become something of a staple in Oculus VR’s line up of demos at industry events such as Gamescom 2014.
While the first look at Lucky’s Tale was offered at E3 2014 in June, this week sees the arrival of the first official footage online. A four minute video can be seen below, comprised entirely of footage from a new level of Lucky’s Tale. As the footage shows, players control Lucky, a cartoon fox, with a standard gamepad while using the Oculus Rift to look around the environment. As Lucky progresses, he collects golden stars and combats enemies by jumping on them.
Lucky’s Tale is coming to PC exclusively with the Oculus Rift. A release date for the title is yet to be revealed, although it will likely be around the time of the launch of the Oculus Rift itself. VRFocus will continue to follow Lucky’s Tale going forward, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
